How the High Output Arc Ignition Module Works
An arc lighter transformer is a step-up (boost) high-voltage generator. The TW-202 contains a compact high-frequency transformer wound on a ferrite core with copper wire, encapsulated in epoxy with an insulating sleeve. When the drive board drives the primary winding with pulsed DC, the secondary side steps the voltage up to kilovolt level. This high-voltage output ionizes the air between two electrodes and produces a plasma arc whose core temperature is high enough to ignite flammable materials.
The module is a power component, not a complete lighter: it must be connected to a battery and a drive board to operate. Its small size (22.8×18.5×9.5 mm) and simple peripheral circuit let manufacturers integrate it into slim, lightweight lighter designs.
