How Negative Ion Generator Module Works?

Feed the module DC12V and it produces high voltage at its output. Connect that output to an appropriate ion-emitting structure, and the module starts charging air molecules into negative ions. Q1. What’s the difference between a high-voltage ionizer module and a plasma generator?

A high-voltage ionizer module uses high voltage to ionize oxygen molecules in the air, so they pick up electrons and become negatively charged oxygen ions (negative oxygen ions). It only releases negatively charged particles — unipolar charge. A plasma generator produces low-temperature plasma through high-voltage discharge. Its output contains electrons, positive and negative ions, plus plenty of free radicals and excited-state molecules. It stays electrically neutral overall, but it’s full of active charges and reactive groups.

Q2. Can a negative ion generator have positive-polarity output?

In normal operation it outputs negative polarity (negative high voltage). With specific applications or design changes, it can be made to output positive polarity — at that point it’s technically called a positive ion generator or bipolar ion generator.
